Q. Let's step away from besties...What is the worst book that you've ever read and actually finished?

A. I’m gonna catch some major flack for this one…

I’ve got several, but I’m only going to list two (maybe I’m overly critical??):
1. New Moon by Stephenie Meyer: I’m not a teenage girl, I don’t pretend to think like a teenage girl, but I just could not get past Bella torturing herself over Edward leaving her.  Really?  I’ve had my heart broken before, but I never cried for days on end or had nightmares.  Seriously.  This book sucked.

2.  Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins: I LOVED The Hunger Games and Catching Fire.  I rooted for Katniss.  Wanted her to be…free?  I guess.  Collins ruined the series with Mockingjay.  I will never understand why she did what she did to her characters.  Ugh.  This may actually be the worst series finale ever.

So, what are your least favorite books?

  1. I totally agree with you! Mockingjay was just disappointing. I also wanted Katniss to be free.

  3. I haven't started the hunger series yet!

I liked new moon but by the end of the twilight sage I was glad that it was all finished. Breaking Dawn has been showing up quite a bit today.

  4. Lmao! I totally agree with you about New Moon. To say "over the top" would be an understatement.

Honestly, I can't remember what I thought about Mockingjay. I think I liked it, but can definitely see where you are coming from.

  5. Oh boy. Well, New Moon I really liked. It may seem over the top. But, I can tell you that when I was a teenage girl, I tortured myself over losing my first love. I was literally heartbroken for a long time over it. We girls tend to be emotional. ;) lol

As for Mockingjay. I didn't hate the book, but there were some things that REALLY made me mad about it. The primary thing for me having to do with Finnick and her sister. Did not agree with what happened there.

    But anyways...

Thanks for stopping by my follow friday and book blogger hop and following my blog! I'm following your blog now as well! :)

  6. Richard, thanks for stopping by my blog - returning the following favor :)

Totally agree, Collins lost me on book three two, and I haven't met one person yet that doesn't hold that same opinion. BOO!

    Happy Friday!

  7. I know what you mean for New Moon destroying yourself over someone is not a healthy relationship. I read the hunger games and catching fire but not mockingjay. I hope it doesn't ruin the series for me when I get to it New Follower! :)

  8. YES! I totally agree with you about New Moon. It was just awful. The whole series was really disappointing but that one in particular. Yuck.

You're the first I've heard to have a negative comment about any part of The Hunger Games Series! I haven't read them yet and I've been a little hesitant because I've heard them hyped up so much.

Anyways, old follower :) Just wanted to say Happy Friday!

  9. You won't catch any flack from me on your choices.

The Twilight books are good books, but I'm not a teenage girl either. Well, not anymore. I think they're good, but there is melodrama and the further you get in the series (Breaking Dawn) there is a little weirdness (the birthing scene, right?). Still, I liked them because I expect melodrama and weirdness to a degree in paranormal and fantasy books, especially YA ones. So, no flack from me on that one. (I am very interested in seeing what they're gonna do with the Breaking Dawn movie, but that has absolutely nothing to do with your answer, so I will just leave it at that.)

And Mockingjay. Wow, I don't know what to say about that one. I mean, I practically ATE The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. Catching Fire was my favorite of the trilogy. By the time I got to Mockingjay I felt like the author was just tired of telling me a story so she just rushed and wrote because she had to. I'm GLAD I read it, but it was sort of like pulling teeth a teensy bit for me. No flack from me here either. Still, I am excited for the movies. I think there is great potential, within the bounds of "The books are always better than the movies."

Good, great, excellent choices. Have a good weekend.

  10. I never made it to New Moon. Twilight was enough for me. I thought Mockingjay was the worst of the Hunger Games triology. Thanks for stopping by my blog. New follower back!

  11. Ha, not a Twilight fan myself, but the worst book for me in the series (don't ask why I even read them all) was the last one - UGH! I want that couple hours of my life back!

  12. New Moon wasn't my favorite of the series but I didn't hate it. But where I'll re-read the others, I don't really feel the need to re-read that one. Haven't read the Hunger Games trilogy yet though. Don't worry though, I'm sure my pick will tick off some too. To each their own. New follower :)

  13. I couldn't get through Twilight, let alone New Moon :) I didn't mind Mockingjay, although I do wish it had ended differently. Thanks for following my blog--now following yours!

  14. Hopping through. I didn't like New Moon as much at first b/c Bella was so mopey and I wanted her to get over herself, but as I understood the "otherworldliness" of B and E's relationship, I related to New Moon better.

  15. I COMPLETELY agree with you about New Moon, I couldn't stand Bella... she was just so... idiotic, I don't know. And I love the series but this book was a pain...
And about the Hunger Games, I haven't read those yet but, if the ending is not good I don't think I will.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by my blog. Hope you are having a great weekend! Hugs,
